If you want to blow away zombies but you’re not one of the beneficiaries of a trust fund or Wall Street bonus, you’ll find that the $1,499 G51J-A1 is every bit as capable as top-end rigs. The Alienware M15x offers slightly better performance and cool extras like customizable lighting, but it costs $1,874 when similarly configured to the G51J-A1. In other words, this rig is a killer value.

All in all, the G51J-A1 is great at being itself, but not so great at being your "do-it-all" 15" notebook. The keyboard is just too lackluster to be used for daily typing chores, note taking, etc., and the battery is too poor to use on the road for any real length of time. It's a portable gaming rig in a form factor that's smaller than those gigantic 17" and 18.4" machines out there and that's about it.

Acer’s $779 Aspire 5738DG does a better job of bringing 2D movies into the third dimension, but Nvidia’s 3D technology is more effective, and provides better viewing angles with the included glasses. If you’re a gamer, the G51J 3D is definitely worth a look.

Ultimately this is a great laptop, and kudos to Asus for being the first out the gates with a nVidia 3D Vision laptop. That the technology works well given the correct content demonstrates that 3D is now ready to come out of the wilderness and start enjoying some success as a mainstream technology. The Asus G51JX-X3 comes in a deep blue color, and offers a typically impressive Asus display. The lit keyboard is a nice touch, even if the keys are slightly slippery. In benchmark tests this notebook achieves the best score in the sub-$1000 category. Anyone wanting a 14-inch gaming notebook will be delighted with this machine at the price.

Asus: ASUSTEK Bilgisayar anonym şirketi Tayvan asıllı uluslararası bir şirket olup; anakart, grafik kartları, optic sürücüler, PDAlar, bilgisayar monitörleri, notebooklar, serverlar, network ürünleri, bilgisayar kasa ve bileşenleri üretmektedir. Şirketin 2007 gelirleri 6.9 milyar dolar olarak açıklanmıştır. ASUS aynı zamanda diğer üreticiler için bileşenlerde üretmektedir. 2008 yılında Eee PC netbook dünyasında büyük bir patlama gerçekleştirmiştir.
Oyun oynamak isteyen kullanıcılar için en son seçenek. Yeni oyunlar bu kartlarda çalışacaktır, ama sadece düşük detaylar ve orta çözünürlükte.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M:
Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M temelde GeForce 9800M GTX’in 55nm teknolojisi ile üretilmiş ve G92b çekirdeği üzerine kurulmuş halinin daha yüksek saat hızına sahip hali (bu yüzden masa üstü GTX 260 ile kıyaslanamaz). 9800M GTX ile kıyaslanıldığında GTX 260M 55nm teknolojisi ile üretilmekte ve bu yüzden daha yüksek saat hızına sahip.
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M:
GTS 260M ile aynı çip ama daha yüksek saat hızına sahip. GDDR5 grafik belleğil ile yüksek performans sunmakta.

Intel Core i7:
720QM: Core i7-720QM, 2009 yılı içerisinde karşımıza Core i7 Quad çekirdeğin en yavaş üyesi olarak karşımıza çıkıyor. 1.6 ile 2.8 GHz aralığındaki saat hızı ile yavaş bir 4 çekirdekli işlemci olmakla beraber hızlı bir tek çekirdekli işlemci olmanın özelliklerinin avantajlarına sahip. Daha hızlı Core i7 işlemcilerle kıyaslandığında 720QM sadece 6MB L3 Cache kapasitesine sahip.
Intel Core i5:
430M: Core i5-430M orta sınıf 3MB Level 3 Cache kapasitesine sahip 2.26-2.53GHz saat hızına sahip laptop işlemcisi. VT-d, Trusted Execution ve bazı AES özelliklerinden yoksun işlemcide Hyperthreading sayesinde 4 komut eş zamanlı işlenebilmekte. Intel HD Grafik çözümü ve DDR3 bellek kontrolörü pakete dahil edilmiş.
