But hands-on sessions and real life use are two quite different things. Huawei is still blocked off from Google apps, meaning that as soon as you wanted an app beyond what came pre-installed you’d become rather annoyed you weren’t using an Apple tablet, or any other Android tablet like Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S6. Also, the ports for most gaming laptops are either on the left or right side, so having them behind is a bonus for me. That said, if you prefer desktop PCs, you're better off in the long run with building your own PC using that amount of money.

The 2021 Huawei MatePad 10.4 (2021) is just the same as its 2020 model except for an updated processor and GPU. For the price of PHP 18,999, you’ll get pretty good sounding speakers, long battery life, M Pencil support, and good performance for its class. However, it can be a bit difficult to recommend to users who are not accustomed to sideloading. If you are a first-time buyer of a tablet, we suggest you look at some other brands. But if you are already in the Huawei ecosystem, the Huawei MatePad 10.4 (2021) isn’t a bad choice because you can take advantage of EMUI’s features like Huawei Share, Screen Mirroring to a Huawei laptop– if you have one, and MeeTime, which can level up your productivity experience.

The current state of HarmonyOS and the Huawei AppGallery is a culmination of the company’s efforts to overcome the U.S. trade ban. HarmonyOS has definitely helped rejuvenate its software identity a bit, but it hasn’t done a whole lot for the actual state of Huawei’s affairs. It’s still stuck in a loop of playing catch up in getting major apps on its devices. I think that Huawei’s attempt at pulling away from the Android branding has only helped it to get so far. Stepping away from the Android brand was supposed to help it identify as something else, as “Android” is perceived in the wider world to need Google. If it’s not Android, then why would it need Google? I don’t think it’s worked quite as well as it hoped though, even if the devices it’s making are powerful and nice to use. I think the biggest loss here is one to consumers though. Consumers want choice, and choice drives innovation as companies try to outdo each other. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus is great, but it’s all there is if you’re looking for an Android tablet.

The bottom line is… the Huawei MatePad 11 is an excellent tablet. It’s just the right size, unlike the MatePad Pro 12.6, which is a bit too large in my opinion. This tablet is really comfortable to use, and you’re getting plenty of screen real estate. The build is top notch, while the speakers are excellent. The performance is also great. Don’t count on using those cameras and getting good results, though, while the software is good, but it’s not for everyone. If you’re dependent on Google, this is definitely not a tablet for you. In conclusion, Huawei has managed to make a good mid-range device. In this case, the flagship model (MatePad Pro) is not radically different from the non-flagship model. This is not to say that users are deprived of something critical, and the difference in price is pleasant. The screen is IPS, not AMOLED, but still good, there is one camera instead of two, the processor is weaker, but still good enough. Those that don’t like Google probably have iPads already, and relatively few in the West would choose Huawei over Google or Apple. HarmonyOS might well carve out a successful future in China, but for westerners it cannot replicate why Android became so successful and continues to be the most prolific mobile platform on the planet. Coming in at RM1999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage MatePad 11, the hardware is high level enough to replace certain laptops and there are no contenders with exactly the same features at the moment. However, if you're looking for similar alternatives, there is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite which also offers S Pen Stylus support with a 10.4-inch 2K display but it offers a more midrange Exynos 9611 chipset, 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage for RM1699. There are also the recently announced Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro tablets which offer similar features for less at around RM1307 but it's still not confirmed how much they would actually be priced here in Malaysia just yet. We were pleasantly surprised by the Huawei MatePad 11, because unlike some other Huawei devices from the past few years, we could generally use it as our regular workstation. It has loads of apps, a good-looking screen, a powerful processor and a long-lasting battery. That’s not to say it’s perfect, and the lack of paid apps, aforementioned software issues and slow charging were irritating. As we said, we tried to write this review on the tablet and couldn’t, though depending on the apps you use, you might not find the issues we did. We also can’t write a final verdict until we know how much the MatePad costs, and therefore what value-for-money proposition Huawei is making.

Huawei knows a lot about tablets. The manufacturer has created a cool top-of-the-line device. It is almost perfect. It has a gorgeous large OLED screen with a frequency of 120 Hz, which displays a juicy picture. And the power reserve of the device is impressive. During the entire time of use, the tablet has never failed in any of the tasks. And there were no problems with application compatibility. Except with account identification. The new OS works very quickly. And how this novelty, with an advanced eight-speaker system, sounds: clear and loud. I didn’t turn on my speakers even once during the test. A nice bonus is reverse charging, which transforms Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 (2022) into a mat for recharging gadgets. And the autonomy of the tablet did not disappoint. The price is a bit high, but this fact should be taken for granted. If you want a top-end device, you need to be prepared. The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 with its ultimate functionality and performance to date is very close to the ideal, if it exists at all. This is definitely a successful tablet with a developed ecosystem. Supplemented with accessories, it can easily replace a laptop, becoming a powerful tool for work and entertainment. Recommended.

The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 is a killer tablet if you just look at the hardware, with speakers that show how much of a difference genuinely decent audio can make for mobile gaming and movie-streaming. Its screen is great and battery life is long. However, it’s impossible to ignore that the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 feels a bit like what you’d get if Amazon decided to make a really, really expensive Fire HD tablet. Huawei and Amazon tablets don’t get the Google Play app store, and that means access to games and apps is severely limited. You can only get around this so much by side-loading apps, itself a security risk, so bear that in mind before deciding the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 is a better deal than an iPad Pro 12.9 or Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+.

The company also seems to think users like to be bombarded with notifications, emails, and texts from its advertising partners. Now you’d most likely consider a Pro tablet like this as an alternative for a laptop, and it can do so even without a Desktop Mode available. Just be ready to consider using other office apps that aren’t Google to be more efficient. So yes, if you highly rely on Google apps, then I don’t really recommend this one unless you’re willing to adapt. It has a more reasonable price for its specs than Apple’s iPad Pro; however, it still falls down to the lack of Google Mobile Services. This would’ve been the best Android tablet yet. But we’ll never know with Huawei, the development of HarmonyOS was a big step, and who knows what further improvements they can make.

The excellent display and speakers, smooth performance and polished interface make the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 a surprisingly worthy contender, more so for its sub-RM4,000 price tag inclusive of its Smart Magnetic Keyboard and M-Pencil stylus. Short of highly specialised applications or a very Google-centric workload, the MatePad Pro 12.6 is able to meet the needs of most mainstream users in Malaysia, made more so by its surprisingly decent price tag for a premium tablet.

As much as we enjoy Huawei's HarmonyOS software for getting work done, the MatePad Pro's 12.6-inch display and versatility of the added stylus and keyboard, there are a couple of things that'll likely stop people from buying one compared to an Apple iPad. First: it's not readily available at time of writing, so you can't actually buy it. Second: being based on Android means you don't get the same level of apps that an iPad enjoys. Add to that the fact that Huawei's AppGallery still lacks a lot of popular games, and it limits the experience somewhat. However, if what you're after is a tablet to help you get work done, and you're an Office 365 user, or don't mind going down the APK route to install apps like Paper by Dropbox or Slack, then the usability and flexibility of this Huawei tablet as a work machine might just make the compromises worth it.

It doesn’t have Google apps or services, meaning no access to Google Play. This might not be a big issue with an affordable tablet. The Amazon Fire range does just fine without Google Play. However, the Huawei MatePad Pro 11 is not a budget tablet. You’re either going to be regularly reminded of the lack of quality apps on Huawei’s AppGallery, or you’re a person who probably shouldn’t be buying a tablet this high-end in the first place. And if we forget that software issue? I don’t love the plastic casing. Not at this price. That's an excellent question. Based on my experience with this tablet, my answer is a resounding "Yes." The biggest downside to your experience of the MatePad Pro 11 might be the lack of Google applications. For some, this won't be an issue—YouTube will happily run in the browser, as will Gmail. But if you're looking for native app integration, you'll need to look elsewhere. The MatePad Pro 11 is great... as long as you're not strictly married to the Google ecosystem. The keyboard is fabulous as well, allowing for speedy typing. However, I recommend turning off the word suggestions as they can get annoying quickly, especially when typing in email addresses and passwords. The M-Pencil is also a fun tool to use as well. When you're not using it, just pop it on the side of the tablet to charge. The combination makes for an ideal replacement for your laptop while on the go. All in all, the Huawei MatePad Pro is an excellent choice for a tablet. From the accessories to the impressive screen, from the responsiveness to the fantastic battery life, you can't go wrong with this choice.

The MatePad Pro 11's one glaring flaw is evident before you even get to experience the tablet itself - it's the lack of Google backing. So if you're at all reliant on the Google app suite, or apps that require Google Play Services to run, there's not much point in considering this particular tablet. However, we'd argue the limitations are much easier to live with on a tablet than on your smartphone. If this doesn't bother you, the MatePad Pro 11 is a nicely capable and very appealing offering. It's got one of the best displays on a tablet and possibly the fastest charging we've encountered on one, fast enough to make the so-so battery life barely a mention in the cons section. HarmonyOS may not be Google's Android, but you'll find a wide-ranging selection of the most used apps in Huawei's AppGallery. The proprietary features are useful and well thought out, and the optional stylus and keyboard make for a very versatile productivity/creativity package. The nice speakers are also a plus, as is the better-than-average camera system. The compact dimensions and low weight don't hurt either, though if you're after an 11-inch tablet, perhaps you're willing to accept some concessions in terms of bulk and heft. All in all, the MatePad Pro 11 is worth a recommendation... Provided you can find one, which isn't straightforward in Europe, much less in the US.

The MatePad Pro 11 gets plenty right on the hardware front: a beautiful screen, stellar sound, and dependable battery life. Starting at €649 the Huawei MatePad Pro 11 (2022) is not cheap by any means. However, Huawei did a great job with it. This tablet runs really smoothly, even during those prolonged gaming sessions, and all that despite the fact it doesn’t have the latest and greatest SoC. It has a great display with excellent touch response, and really fluid software. Even its cameras are serviceable, and if you do choose to get some accessories for it, you won’t be sorry. However, if you do install tons of obscure apps on your devices, or need some specific ones that are not available in the AppGallery, well, you may have a problem. You can always sideload, but be careful while you do it. Google apps are also out of the question. What I’m trying to say is, the main problem with the tablet is caused by the US ban on Huawei. This product, on its own, is really great, and premium-feeling. It’s up to you to decide whether it’s worth it to you.

Oddly enough, despite the lack of Google services, I agree to give the tablet a pretty high score for its software. That’s because the Harmony OS 3 shell is very user-friendly, well-designed and glitch-free. This is what makes the tablet tear apart the competitors in the slightly lower price segment. And it beats the top competitors at the expense of price. So that is the formula for success among a wider range of consumers. The MatePad SE 10.4 is hardly a solution for everyone. But it does have something that will help it win a niche in the market - great ergonomics and a cool screen, so it will be a handy solution as a tablet for study or work.

Huawei continues to make great hardware, with the MatePad PaperMatte being a compact and comfortable device to use. The display reacts well to strong light sources, while generally making things easy on the eye. It’s also good that you get the Smart Keyboard and M-Pencil as part of the deal, even if the former wasn’t that impressive. The achilles heel remains the absence of the Google Play store and Google services. It’s been a problem for a while, and who knows if the US will rescind its ban in the future. Until then, even with Huawei developing some good apps and allowing APKs to be downloaded and installed, the app gap makes the PaperMatte less appealing than something like the iPad, OnePlus Pad or any other quality Android tablet. If the ban ends tomorrow, then the PaperMatte could instantly become and excellent option, until then it’s something of a niche product.

Should you buy any of these two tablets? Well, they’re not for everyone, and only you can answer that question. If the answer to those questions is ‘yes’, then sure, considering both of these tablets. They’re basically the same in all aspects except the displays. They are considerably different. Each of them has its advantages, so be careful which one you choose. If you’re looking for a more regular display experience, go for the Huawei MatePad 11.5-inch. You’ll get a nice IPS LCD panel with a high refresh rate, with the usual glare problem. The ‘PaperMatte’ edition is great for some people, but it’s not for everyone. The Huawei MatePad 11.5 is, in many ways, an attractive device for the price. It has a solid if uninspiring design, a good screen, nice speakers, solid battery life and a theoretically powerful and modern processor within. You could look at a spec sheet and easily think “that’s enough tablet for me”, and if it came with the Play Store in tow, you would certainly be right. Without an easy way to get important apps, or those that work well, it’s impossible to experience any of the mod-cons of owning a nice tablet without putting in work. Where an equivalently priced device from Lenovo, Xiaomi, Samsung or any other manufacturer, the question ‘why buy Huawei’ comes to the fore. It is for this reason that I recommend you don’t buy the MatePad 11.5, and look at our selection of budget alternatives instead.

Yorum

Huawei:

Çok seçici olmayan oyunlar akıcı olarak oynanabilir. Ama düşük çözünürlüğe ve dolayısıyla düşük detaylara hazır olun. Yine de bu kartlar ofis ve video görüntüleme (HD Videolar içinde uygun olduğu söylenebilir) konularında yeterli performansı veriyor.

Qualcomm Adreno 644: Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC içine entegre edilmiş akıllı telefonlar ve tabletler için grafik yongası. Qualcomm, önceki nesle göre %20 daha hızlı olduğunu iddia ediyor.

Bu tür grafik kaetları oyunlar için pek ideal değil. Eğer bir oyunu çalıştıracak olurlarsa ya grafiksel hatalarla ya da düşük frame oranlarıyla çalıştırabilirler. Oyuncular için uygun değiller. Ofis ve internet ise oyunların aksine bu GPU lar için sorun değil.

Imagination PowerVR GE8320:
