The Acer Swift 14 AI Windows laptop weighs 1368 grams and is 31.5x22.5x1.5cm at the back it is .5cm less at the front. Open the lid and the viewable screen is 31x19.5cm which gives the notional diagonal imperial measurement of 14 inches. On the centre of the top of the screen surround is a web-cam. The screen display is 2560x1400. My unit came with a US keyboard – I would think any you buy in this country would have a UK keyboard – I mention this mainly because instead of the initial boot up taking 15 minutes it took 30 minutes this could be because of downloading updates to include the AI stuff or possibly the UK keyboard etc. all you are told is that it is downloading updates. Moving down to the keyboard there is a 2.5cm border on both sides and behind, the clearance in front is 9cm with the 11x7.5cm trackpad mounted centrally in this area.

The Acer Swift 14 AI with Intel Lunar Lake may have its perks, including the dazzling 14.5-inch OLED display and punch-up in graphics, but its benefits can’t outweigh what the Swift 14 AI with Snapdragon X Plus has in store. It’s a pricier model that can’t compete in performance in some areas that count. Unless you want the best display the Swift lineup has to offer (even though the Snapdragon model’s display is still great) and better graphics, there’s not too much point in picking up the Intel model. What’s more, there are other excellent notebooks worth your attention, including the M3 Macbook Air. If you’re looking for a Windows laptop that shows off Snapdragon X power, look no further than the Dell XPS 13 (2024).

Anyone looking to upgrade from a laptop that’s three or more years old will get the most out of everything the Acer Swift 14 AI offers. From battery life to performance across productivity apps and even some gaming, it would be a massive upgrade for a reasonable starting price of $1,199. You probably won’t even notice the same sluggishness I did when I had a bunch of browser tabs and apps open at the same time. But if heavy multitasking is your game, I still feel compelled to steer you away from this laptop simply because the Snapdragon Swift AI 14 is a much better laptop for that kind of use — and its battery lasts nearly two more hours on a full charge. More than that, though, the display offers a higher resolution and refresh rate. It’s a tad heavier and thicker, but barely.

The Acer Swift 14 AI makes a good first impression with its solid aluminum frame and ample connectivity options, but it doesn’t quite make the sale. Acer’s trackpad feels cheap and even looks a bit off-kilter. The display, while very sharp and fast, is also a bit on the dim side, and the super-reflective glass will make it even harder to use in a bright environment. It’s hard to judge the value of Copilot+ certification because almost none of those features are available. What limited AI there is at launch is heralded by the illuminated trackpad. This is an unnecessary gimmick, which you can turn off. In general, Acer goes a bit too far with preloaded software, too.

Those looking inside the box, however, will find exceptional processing power and webcam quality. The stiff, flat keyboard dampens the experience, and other 14-inch ultraportables, like the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED Touch, include prettier OLED screens, but this Acer should satisfy many.
